Saifullah Foundation for Sustainable Development was established as an independent non-political, non-profit NGO registered under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Voluntary Social Welfare Agencies (registration and control Ordinance, 1961).

Begum Kulsum Saifullah Khan (Hilal-e-Imtiaz), the founding chairperson, was the inspiration behind its establishment. As country's pre-eminent social worker and women activist, begum sahiba keenly felt the need of lifting the less developed rural area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from current backwardness by providing economic, educational and health facilities to its people.

Among one of the major concerns, she openly expressed, was catering to the needs of primary health care for women & children through preventive and curative approaches. She was also keen to provide employment to the youth of the province by instituting skill development and computer literacy programs.

The Foundation is also providing healthy recreational and sports facilities to the youth in the area and clean drinking water to village Lawang Khel.

Among its new initiatives, the foundation has set up a vocational training center for women and a children park at Ghazni Khel. SFSD has plan to install hand pumps for supply of clean drinking water to several villages, of the area.

It is said with great satisfaction that today the foundation can take pride in its landmark projects, which include the following :

  • Women & Children Hospital Ghazni Khel
  • Computer Centre Serai Naurang
  • Saifullah Khan Trust
  • Akbar Kare Institute
